Streetcar No. 23 is owned by the Nelson Electric Tramway Society
and is operated by trained volunteer Motormen and Conductors. Operation is dependent on the
fares collected, sale of postcards, pins, and donations. Membership in the Society is available at $10.00 per year.
The streetcar runs on weekends only from Easter Weekend to Mid June.
Daily operation is from Mid June to Labour Day. Weekend operation is run again from Labour Day to Thanksgiving Weekend.
The streetcar leaves the Hall Street Station at 11:10 a.m. and every half-hour until
4:40 p.m. It leaves the Lakeside Rotary Park Station at 11:30 a.m. and every
half-hour until 4:30 p.m. A routine stop is made in both directions at the Chahko Mika Mall
Station and flag stops are made at the Car Barn, the Soccer Field and the Power
Shed for passengers wishing to board or leave at any of those locations.
Fare for Adults is $3.00, Seniors and Youth (ages 6 to 12 years) is $2.00 and
under 6 years with an adult is free. Maximum family fare is $8.00. A Seasons Pass for one Adult is $25.00 and $15.00 for a Senior or Youth. Family Season Passes are $50.00. Passengers wishing to board at one location
and leave prior to completing a full round trip can obtain a ticket from the Conductor and
re-board on a later trip to complete their journey.
Conventions, Tour groups and other organizations can charter Streetcar
No. 23 before noon daily from Easter Weekend through Thanksgiving Weekend.
Cost is $75.00 per hour and reservations must be made at least a week in advance
of the date required.
